During the 80th Independence Day celebrations, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II stated that the national football team, "Al-Nashama," is more than just a football team. He noted that "the character of the national team players resembles that of all Jordanians—determined, ambitious, and cohesive—and they have become role models for everyone through their morals, manners, and discipline."

In a recorded video address broadcast during Jordan's 80th Independence Day ceremony on Monday, His Royal Highness added that the young men of the national team are "an example of sheer will, bound by brotherhood, and acting as one." He emphasized that their fierce determination on the pitch has made them "true Nashama, living up to the name in every sense."
Addressing the players directly, he said: "You have left the pundits mystified. Keep going, have no fear; we are with you, and all of Jordan stands behind you."
The Crown Prince affirmed that "Al-Nashama represents the story of an ambitious nation, capable of defying all expectations and achieving the best results regardless of the circumstances."
His Royal Highness added: "Today, as we stand on the threshold of the World Cup, I am certain they will fight until the very last breath and present Jordan in the best possible light."
On Monday, His Majesty King Abdullah II honored the national football team with the Order of Independence (First Class) on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, in recognition of their efforts and national achievements.
Over the years, the national football team has secured achievements that raised Jordan's name high in the football world. Most notably, they qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history and finished as runners-up in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025.

Upcoming Schedule and World Cup Preparation
The Nashama squad will depart for Switzerland on Thursday, May 28, where they will face the hosts at 4:00 PM (Jordan Time) on Sunday, May 31, at the kybunpark stadium in St. Gallen. Following that, the team will travel to the United States to face Colombia on the evening of Sunday, June 7, in San Diego, before settling into their official World Cup base camp in Portland, USA.
The Nashama team is preparing for its historic debut appearance in the FIFA World Cup, where they have been placed in Group J alongside Argentina, Algeria, and Austria.
