Early Thursday morning, the Southern Military Region successfully thwarted a drug smuggling attempt along its western front within its area of responsibility, involving the use of a drone.

A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army stated: “Border Guard forces in the Southern Military Region, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to foil an attempt to smuggle narcotics using a drone that tried to cross the border.”
The source explained that the drone was detected and tracked, and the rules of engagement were applied. The drone was intercepted and downed within Jordanian territory, and the seized materials were transferred to the relevant authorities.
The source affirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces remain committed to leveraging all their capabilities and resources to prevent such substances from reaching the country’s citizens and threatening national security.
