Pfizer vaccines for children 5-11 under consideration — Epidemiology Committee member

AMMAN  —  Dr. Bassam Hijjawi, a member of the Epidemiology Committee, said that the option of administering the Pfizer vaccine to children aged 5-11 is under study and has still not been approved, according to Al Ghad. اضافة اعلان

The lowest age group to take the Covid-19 vaccine in the Kingdom are children aged 12-17, and is not mandatory, he added, pointing out that 90,000 people in this age group have received two doses, and 70,000 people received one dose of the Pfizer vaccine. 

Hijjawi confirmed, in a statement to Al Ghad, that an average of 20,00 people receive the vaccines daily, stating that the capacity of the medical sector reaches 100,00 people daily. 

With regard to the third dose, he explained that the immunocompromised people should be the ones to take it, as long as they present a medical report to prove any pre-existing conditions. 

Hijjawi stressed that the Pfizer vaccine is safe for pregnant and lactating women, calling on this group to take the vaccinations and not hesitate to do so.
