Petra received 53,660 visitors in July

AMMAN — The number of visitors to Petra increased by 158 percent last month, compared with the corresponding month in 2021, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

Statistics published by the Petra Tourism Development and Tourism Region Authority on Monday showed that the city carved into rose-red stone received 53,660 sightseers of all nationalities.

The figures show that only 20,000 people visited the city in southern Jordan in July 2021.

Additionally, the number of visitors in July surpassed the visitor count in July 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, with 44,958 visitors. 

The statistics also showed that the number of foreign visitors to Petra was 30,128, while the number of Jordanian and Arab visitors reached 23,091.
