AMMAN — The project to create a draft amendment to
the Associations Law was halted as it required further consultations, community
dialogues, and studies on how the amendments could impact associations, civil
society institutions, and citizens, according to the Ministry of Social Development.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the ministry pointed
out that it aims to create a qualitative addition to the Associations Law
through effective amendments and social compatibility. To ensure this, the
ministry requires more time to ensure that the draft meets the needs of the
association and communities that benefit from it.
The ministry added that appointed committee meetings and
partner meetings will all stop but ensured they will continue to receive
proposals and suggestions.
Suggestions and observations from civil society
organizations, bodies, associations, and citizens that could enrich the
amendments are welcomed to be made through the website of the association
registration http://www.societies.gov.jo.
