Earlier today, the prosecutor interrogated MP Riyati about the case, according to a source cited by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), before deciding to detain him and impose a travel ban as part of the ongoing investigation.
Last Friday, MP Riyati, along with a group of individuals, reportedly entered a location later identified as affiliated with the banned Muslim Brotherhood group. They were allegedly found shredding documents and attempting to dispose of them using black plastic bags.
Security forces managed to seize the destroyed documents and foiled an attempt to smuggle other papers from the premises. Upon searching the site, authorities discovered additional documents and materials related to the group.
During his questioning, the prosecutor also asked MP Riyati about publishing false information on social media. He had claimed that the Public Prosecution had released detainees, when in fact they were witnesses who had not been arrested or treated as suspects. The prosecutor also inquired about specific phrases and details mentioned in a statement issued by Riyati concerning the case.
