In a statement to Public Security Radio, Colonel Mohammad Khreisat, Director of Central Amman Civil Defense, explained that the swift response and high readiness of the Civil Defense teams—supported by immediate operational coordination and reinforcement from Civil Defense units in East and West Amman, as well as personnel from Central Amman Police and the Capital Gendarmerie—were key factors in containing the fire, preventing its spread, and extinguishing it in record time.
Colonel Khreisat noted that the operations room received a report at 1:10 AM about the fire. Specialized teams were immediately dispatched and faced significant challenges due to the nature of the burning materials—such as clothing, cleaning supplies, and assorted items—as well as the way materials were stacked inside storage areas. This necessitated the use of heavy machinery to remove debris and reach hotspots.
He confirmed that the fire was fully brought under control, and that cooling operations are still ongoing to ensure no reignition occurs. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
