Director of Balqa Civil Defense, Colonel Engineer Mohammad Al-Majali, reported that a 1.5-year-old child was rescued on Sunday evening after a small stone became lodged in his airway. The child was rushed to the "Zai and Allaan" Civil Defense Center, where emergency procedures were immediately performed to save his life.اضافة اعلان

Al-Majali explained that the foreign object was successfully removed from the child’s airway, and his breathing was restored. After his condition stabilized, he was transferred to Salt Government Hospital for further treatment.

He noted that such incidents can occur in both children and adults, emphasizing that a person cannot survive without breathing for more than three minutes.

Colonel Al-Majali stressed the importance of ongoing awareness campaigns held in schools and community centers to educate the public on how to respond to choking incidents — especially techniques for clearing airways in cases of food obstruction in adults or foreign object insertion by children.

He also highlighted the increased readiness of all Civil Defense centers in Balqa Governorate — in line with national directives — as summer brings a rise in grass fires, snake bites, and drowning incidents. The aim is to reduce emergency response times and save lives.

Furthermore, he urged parents to closely supervise children in private chalets, particularly those with swimming pools, underscoring the legal requirement for certified lifeguards in all public pools and resorts.
