In Madaba, the minister reviewed progress on the expansion of the Al-Malouki Road, stretching from the American University traffic signal to the American University triangle, over a length of 4 kilometers. The project aims to widen the road by an average of 5 meters to reach a total width of 15.5 meters, enhancing traffic safety and improving traffic flow.

Madaba’s Directorate of Public Works teams have carried out various field works, including removing obstacles such as trees, cables, communications and electricity poles, and water lines, as well as relocating some streetlights obstructing the expansion path. Excavation and backfilling were performed for three layers (Topping, Sub-base, and Base course), in addition to implementing a stormwater drainage line in preparation for asphalt paving in the coming days.

The backfilling and surface preparation works have reached 95% completion. Abu Al-Samen directed that all remaining tasks in this phase be finalized by next Sunday at the latest.

In Karak, the minister inspected the expansion, improvement, and rehabilitation of the Muhi–Al-Abyad Road, a vital route connecting Karak to the Desert Highway and reducing traffic pressure on the Karak–Qatraneh Road.

Abu Al-Samen noted that the project responds to repeated requests from local residents, following necessary technical, survey, and traffic studies, highlighting that the road was previously in poor condition and a frequent source of complaints.

The project, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development with a loan of about JD 5 million, involves reconstructing the 15-kilometer road, widening it to 12 meters, implementing stormwater drainage with box and pipe culverts, and protecting slopes along the route.

The works also include laying new high-quality asphalt layers and implementing all traffic safety requirements, including barriers, speed bumps, road markings, reflectors, and signage.

The project has achieved 47% completion. Abu Al-Samen emphasized accelerating work pace considering the upcoming rainy season and stressed taking necessary contractual measures with the contractor to address any delays and rectify execution shortcomings.
