His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed, during his meeting on Saturday with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the importance of expanding cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan in a way that serves their mutual interests and the issues of the Islamic nation.اضافة اعلان

During a bilateral meeting followed by an expanded one in Islamabad, His Majesty and the Pakistani Prime Minister affirmed their commitment to building on the 78-year-long Jordanian-Pakistani relationship and strengthening joint cooperation in trade, economy, investment, tourism, education, technology, and defense.

His Majesty underscored the need to maintain coordination and cooperation at the bilateral level, as well as with brotherly and friendly nations, to intensify efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.

The King expressed his condolences to the Prime Minister over the victims of the two terrorist attacks that occurred in Pakistan last week, reiterating Jordan’s solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.

The meeting also addressed the situation in Gaza, with His Majesty emphasizing the importance of all parties adhering to the agreement to end the war in all its phases, and ensuring the sufficient flow of humanitarian aid.

His Majesty, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad — Chief Adviser to the King on Religious and Cultural Affairs and His Majesty’s Personal Envoy — highlighted Pakistan’s important role within the UN Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and its support for the agreement to end the war in Gaza.

He stressed the need to stop unilateral measures against Palestinians in the West Bank, particularly plans aimed at expanding settlements and annexing land, warning against assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

During the meeting, Jordan and Pakistan reaffirmed their rejection of any plans to displace Palestinians and their firm support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.

For his part, the Pakistani Prime Minister expressed his country’s keenness to continue expanding cooperation with Jordan in various fields, emphasizing the significance of His Majesty’s visit in strengthening bilateral relations.

His Majesty and the Prime Minister also witnessed the signing ceremonies of several cooperation agreements between the two governments, including:

A cooperation agreement between Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV) and the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation,

A cooperation agreement between JRTV and Pakistan Television Corporation,

A memorandum of understanding between the University of Jordan and Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training to establish a chair for Urdu language and Pakistani studies at the university,

In addition to a cultural cooperation program.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi; Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti; Director of the King’s Office Alaa Al-Bataineh; and Jordan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Maen Khreisat.
