The Senate and the House of Representatives on Wednesday submitted their replies to the Royal Speech from the Throne, delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II on October 26 at the opening of the second ordinary session of the 20th Parliament.
Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez, in the Senate’s reply delivered at Al Raghdan Palace in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, affirmed that the chamber draws inspiration from the values, guidance, and profound messages embodied in the Speech from the Throne, which was rich in reform and development visions.
Fayez described the speech as one of strength, confidence, reassurance, and pride in the Jordanian people, who rally around the Hashemite Throne and reciprocate His Majesty’s trust and affection. He noted that the King’s concern stems from a deep and genuine sense of responsibility and devotion to duty.
Addressing His Majesty, Fayez said that generations of Jordanians have built and accumulated the competence, skill, and determination to overcome crises, emerging as a stronger and more resilient Hashemite Arab Jordan, whose people are never daunted by challenges. He emphasized that Jordan continues to advance and prosper thanks to the people’s sincere faith in God, their homeland, and their unity.
He added that the Senate will continue to follow up on His Majesty’s visions for modernization and reform and, through its specialized committees, serve solely the national interest. Fayez stressed that improving education, developing the health and transport sectors, and keeping pace with technological progress require cooperation between public and private institutions to achieve sustainable development and a dignified life for citizens. These efforts, he said, are reinforced by His Majesty’s continuous support and guidance to attract investment, create jobs, and promote water and food security initiatives.
Fayez noted that wars, conflicts, and economic crises in the region and the world have only made Jordan stronger, thanks to His Majesty’s wise leadership, which has always placed the interests of Jordanians first and shielded them from peril. As a result, Jordan remains strong and respected, supported by the steadfast Arab Army.
Regarding Gaza, Fayez highlighted His Majesty’s persistent international efforts since the onset of the crisis, which have played a key role in mobilizing global pressure to stop the war of extermination and starvation against the Palestinian people. He affirmed that Jordan, following His Majesty’s firm and courageous stance, rejects the ongoing Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank and continues, with honor and dedication, to uphold the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem—an extension of the Kingdom’s historic role in supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.
For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mazen Al-Qaisi said that those raised on Jordan’s soil know that the Kingdom has always been and will remain great through its people. He underscored Jordanians’ loyalty to their homeland and their leader, and their commitment to making Jordan their ultimate goal.
Al-Qaisi said that His Majesty’s directives represent a roadmap toward a future of pride for all Jordanians, empowering them to contribute effectively to national progress. He stressed that Jordan has never been and will never be subordinate or fearful, but a maker of history, a guardian of dignity, and a haven for the oppressed.
He pointed out that the House of Representatives is fully aware of the significant challenges facing the Kingdom and the region, with Jordan remaining a haven of stability in the Middle East. This, he said, places on the chamber the responsibility to legislate, oversee, and ensure the implementation of the political, economic, and administrative modernization tracks to translate the King’s directives into tangible realities for citizens.
Al-Qaisi emphasized that achievements in the modernization process mark only the beginning of a continuous national project that requires sustained effort, citing His Majesty’s words: “Nothing but the homeland,” as the ultimate measure of genuine work and the foundation of every partisan and parliamentary endeavor—where no narrow interest has a place, and nothing outweighs the interest of Jordan.
He affirmed that the House of Representatives will cooperate with the government, in accordance with the Constitution, to effectively implement the King’s visions aimed at supporting the national economy, creating job opportunities, improving living standards, executing major projects, and attracting investments.
He added that under His Majesty’s wise leadership, Jordan remains the true Arab voice and the faithful defender of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He also praised the King’s efforts in rallying international support for recognizing the State of Palestine and in providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
Al-Qaisi concluded by reaffirming that the House will remain a strong shield protecting Jordan from anything that threatens its national security or attempts to hinder its modernization path or weaken its social fabric. He commended the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army – and the security agencies for their dedication and sacrifice.
The session was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hashem bin Al Hussein, Prince Rashid bin Al Hassan, and Prince Mired bin Raad, Chief Chamberlain at the Royal Hashemite Court, as well as Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan and several senior officials.
