AMMAN — Grand Mufti Abdul Karim Al-Khasawneh announced Tuesday that Wednesday will be the 30th of Ramadan, followed Thursday by Eid Al-Fitr, when Muslims break the month-long fasting.
The decision is made upon the sighting of the new moon, according to Islamic law. Khasawneh said in a televised message that it was not possible at sunset to see the crescent of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
