The Jordan Defense and Development Bureau (JODDB) said in a statement on Tuesday that the firm and Deep Element, a Jordanian company specializing in the design, development, and integration of UAS solutions, carried out the test fights jointly.

The drone delivery was conducted from Jordan Armed Forces newly launched test site for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) — the first such test site in the Middle East.

During the drone delivery test, a Jordanian-made fixed-wing VTOL drone successfully delivered a 2kg payload of medical supplies from the test site to a targeted location four kilometers away near Harraneh Castle, southwest of the Azraq Wetlands.

The delivery was successfully managed by Altitude Angel’s market leading GuardianUTM Enterprise system, a world-class unified traffic management (UTM) platform, which has been implemented allowing the test area to enable safe, integrated, flight operations.

GuardianUTM Enterprise provides a “single source point-of-truth” situational awareness and flight authorizations for those managing the test site airspace.

Drones have quickly become one of the most crucial and influential technologies of the 21st century, and an integral part of the world’s transportation systems.

“We are witnessing not only a major shift in aviation, but the start of a new era in which low-level airspace is rapidly becoming the third dimension of transportation,” said Brig gen Yousef Al-Khatib, the assistant chief of staff for planning, organization and defense Resources at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army.

“These successful tests signify an important milestone for the Kingdom, demonstrating our rapid acquisition and implementation of advanced, next-generation technologies, and our regional leadership when it comes to technological innovation,” he said.

“Furthermore, these tests, and the launch of the UAS test site, represent a key step in the country’s efforts to integrate UAS into the national airspace,” he added.

Deep Element is a leading designer, developer, and integrator of total security solutions, with a specialized focus on airspace management, surveillance, and cybersecurity. The company works closely with the Jordan  Armed Forces-Arab Army and other security agencies across the Middle East and Africa, with its head offices located in Jordan.

Altitude Angel is an award-winning provider of UTM software, enabling those planning to operate, or develop UTM/U-Space solutions, to quickly integrate robust data and services with minimum effort.

Altitude Angel’s first party solutions also power some of the world’s leading ANSPs, aviation authorities and Enterprises, including LVNL (Netherlands) and Avinor (Norway), empowering them with new capabilities to safely manage and integrate drone traffic into national operations.

Today, Altitude Angel’s market-defining technology is providing a critical, enabling service on which the future of UTM, especially in controlled airspace, will be built across the globe. Altitude Angel was founded by Richard Parker in 2014 and is headquartered in Reading, the UK.
