The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned Israel’s continued imposition of restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, which has led to dangerous levels of famine as confirmed by the latest report of the UN Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) committee. The report upgraded Gaza’s food insecurity classification to Phase 5, the highest level, indicating famine.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah said this declaration is a grave indicator of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza caused by the systematic and inhumane policies and practices of the Israeli government, which has turned starvation into a weapon against Palestinians.
Ambassador Qudah urged the international community to act immediately and without delay to compel Israel to halt its aggression against Gaza, end the famine and humanitarian catastrophe it has caused and continues to worsen, and ensure the adequate and sustained entry of aid into the Strip.
