Ghassan Sweidan, head of the Jordan Seismological Observatory, stated that the local earthquakes were concentrated in the Dead Sea, Aqaba Gulf, Wadi Araba, Jordan Valley, Tiberias, and neighboring border areas, with magnitudes ranging from 1.0 to 4.2 on the Richter scale. Regional earthquakes mainly occurred in Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, the Mediterranean, and Iran, with magnitudes between 2.1 and 6.2 Richter.

He added that most distant earthquakes were recorded in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, Japan, Kamchatka, and Indonesia, with magnitudes ranging from 4.2 to 8.7 Richter.

Sweidan detailed the distribution of local earthquakes as follows:

49 earthquakes in the Jordan Valley, Carmel, Tiberias, and nearby border areas, magnitudes 1.5–3.4 Richter.

22 earthquakes in Aqaba Gulf and southern border areas, magnitudes 1.6–4.2 Richter.

19 earthquakes in the Dead Sea, magnitudes 1.0–2.5 Richter.

13 earthquakes in Wadi Araba, magnitudes 1.1–2.6 Richter.

3 earthquakes in the Sirhan Fault and Ruwaished area, magnitudes 1.7–2.2 Richter.

The Jordan Seismological Observatory operates 23 seismic monitoring stations across the Kingdom, including 20 Jordanian stations transmitting data via GPRS, two stations affiliated with the German Geophysical Institute (Hamra Al-Sahen/Al-Salt and Ghor Al-Haditha), and one station of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization located in the Al-Asfar area east of Safawi. These facilities enhance the accuracy of monitoring and enable rapid response to seismic activity.
