The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, announced on Wednesday that the EU continues its role in holding Iran accountable. She confirmed that member state ambassadors have approved new sanctions targeting officials and entities linked to gross human rights violations.

In a post on the "X" platform, Kallas stated that EU ambassadors agreed on new sanctions targeting 19 officials and entities affiliated with the Iranian regime, due to their responsibility for committing serious human rights abuses.
She added that, amid the ongoing war linked to Iran, the European Union will continue to protect its interests and pursue those responsible for internal repression.
Kallas emphasized that these measures send a clear message to Tehran: that Iran’s future cannot be built on oppression.
