According to a Turkish diplomatic source quoted by Anadolu Agency, the meeting is attended by the foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, and will focus on the latest developments regarding a ceasefire and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, Minister Fidan is expected to highlight Israel’s attempts to fabricate pretexts to evade a ceasefire and to stress the need for the international community to take a firm stance against Israel’s provocative actions.
He is also expected to emphasize the importance of coordinated action among Islamic countries to ensure that a ceasefire transitions into a lasting peace, while noting that the humanitarian aid entering Gaza remains insufficient and that Israel is failing to meet its obligations in this regard.
The source added that Fidan will underscore that the sustained and adequate delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza is both a humanitarian and legal necessity, calling for increased pressure on Israel to comply.
The Turkish foreign minister is also expected to stress the need to implement arrangements that would enable Palestinians to assume responsibility for Gaza’s security and administration as soon as possible.
Additionally, Fidan is likely to reiterate the importance of safeguarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and upholding the two-state solution, emphasizing the need for continued consultations and close coordination regarding next steps within United Nations platforms.
It is noteworthy that the countries participating in Monday’s Istanbul meeting had previously taken part, at the leadership level, in a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on September 23, during the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
