Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Sunday the evacuation of 21 Jordanian citizens from Venezuela aboard a Qatari Air Force C-17 cargo aircraft that had delivered humanitarian, medical, and food aid from Amman to the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, last Thursday.
The aircraft arrived in Amman carrying the evacuated Jordanians, along with the accompanying Jordanian military delegation.
The evacuation was carried out in implementation of Royal directives to ensure the safe return of Jordanian nationals from Venezuela following the recent twin earthquakes that struck the country.
The operation was conducted through cooperation between the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in coordination with the relevant authorities in Venezuela and the State of Qatar.
The Ministry expressed Jordan’s appreciation for Qatar’s support and cooperation in facilitating the evacuation and for its contribution to delivering humanitarian assistance to Venezuela.
On Thursday and Friday, Jordan, in cooperation with Qatar, dispatched two relief aircraft to Venezuela carrying approximately 52 tonnes of specialized medical supplies for treating injuries and wounds, along with various medical consumables, essential food items, and emergency relief supplies to meet the urgent needs of families affected by the disaster.
As part of the international humanitarian response, Jordan also deployed a 100-member search and rescue team from the Public Security Directorate’s Civil Defense Department, including three physicians from the Royal Medical Services, as well as specialists in urban search and rescue, medical support, and technical operations. The team was equipped with advanced rescue equipment and technology in line with international disaster-response standards.
A few days earlier, the Jordanian rescue team successfully saved a three-year-old child from beneath the rubble six days after the earthquake struck Venezuela.
