The discussion centered around the catastrophic repercussions of Israel’s war on Gaza and the ongoing efforts to formulate a strong and impactful international stance to bring it to a halt.

Safadi and Archbishop Gallagher also delved into the restrictions imposed by Israel on the freedom of worship in Jerusalem.

This included the closure of cities in the West Bank, such as Bethlehem, preventing worshipers from practicing their religious rituals, especially during the Christmas holiday.

Safadi emphatically reiterated Jordan's absolute condemnation of all Israeli measures that represent an assault on the freedom of Muslims and Christians in worship in occupied Jerusalem.

These actions were deemed a violation of international law, as well as Israel's responsibilities as the occupying power.

Safadi also condemned Israel's killing of two women in the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza. He expressed concern about the siege imposed by Israel on the church and 2.3 million other Palestinians in Gaza, depriving them of their rights to food, water, and medicine.

Safadi pointed out that Israel’s war on Gaza has inflicted sorrow and suffering, creating an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy.

Furthermore, it has robbed Christians of the joy of celebrating the Christmas holiday.

The two ministers mutually agreed to continue coordination and consultation. In a related development, Pope Francis today dispatched Cardinal Konrad Krajewski to Palestine and Israel.

This act serves as a tangible sign of the Pope's solidarity with those directly experiencing the consequences of war, especially during the Christmas season, as indicated in a statement issued by the Vatican on Friday.
