The inspection and monitoring teams at the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), in cooperation with the relevant security authorities, seized quantities of hormonal injections, steroids and unauthorized medicines from two private vehicles belonging to fitness trainers.

JFDA Director General Rana Obaidat said in a press statement that the seizure was made during an inspection campaign targeting a fitness center in Amman. The campaign included the official inspection of the two vehicles. She noted that this was the third fitness center where violations had been detected as part of the ongoing regulatory campaign against the illicit circulation of hormones and peptides and related violations.
She said all seized materials were officially confiscated and the necessary legal measures were taken in coordination with the security authorities. The violators were referred to the relevant security center in preparation for their appearance before the competent public prosecutor.
The JFDA explained that some of the seized substances, including Drostanolone, Nandrolone, Oxandrolone, Fluoxymesterone and Stanozolol, belong to the group of anabolic-androgenic steroids.
These substances are misused in bodybuilding to increase muscle mass and strength and enhance physical performance. Sustanon, meanwhile, contains a combination of testosterone esters.
The JFDA also noted that Clenbuterol is a substance that stimulates beta-adrenergic receptors and is misused for fat reduction, while Thyroxine is a thyroid hormone that directly affects metabolism and is sometimes misused for weight loss or to increase metabolic rate.
The authority warned of the dangers of non-medical or indiscriminate use of hormones and anabolic steroids, which can lead to disruption of the body's natural hormonal balance, suppression of testosterone production, fertility problems, high blood pressure, abnormal lipid levels, increased risks of cardiovascular complications, liver dysfunction, and potential psychological and mood-related effects.
It also warned against the misuse of stimulant substances and thyroid hormones, which may cause rapid or irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure and serious health complications.
The JFDA stressed that the use of unauthorized products carries additional risks because their source, composition, quality, and manufacturing, transportation and storage conditions cannot be guaranteed.
The authority urged citizens to verify that any substance or product they intend to use is officially authorized by the JFDA in order to protect their health and safety.
