The funds will be channeled through the German Development Bank (KfW). The separate grant agreement was signed by Minister of Education Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, in the presence of Sawsan Al-Arouri, Deputy Director of the German Development Bank in Jordan.
During the signing ceremony at the Ministry of Education headquarters, Dr. Mahafzah expressed appreciation for Germany’s support and its new grant to the Jordanian government, which strengthens efforts to ensure fair and equitable access to quality education for refugee children in Jordan.
He also extended gratitude to Germany for its continuous support to Jordan’s education system, affirming the Ministry’s commitment to provide Syrian and non-Jordanian students in public schools with the same level of quality education offered to Jordanian students.
The grant is intended to support the Ministry of Education in strengthening public schools and assisting teachers and administrative staff serving the most vulnerable communities across the country. It will also enable thousands of Syrian students to enroll in public schools operating on a double-shift system throughout the Kingdom.
The program further seeks to create job opportunities in Jordan’s education sector, thereby enhancing the capacity and resilience of the formal education system.
