AMMAN— Karak
includes dozens of historical, religious and recreational tourist sites that
constitute a tourist destination for visitors from inside and outside the
governorate, and the number of visitors increased during the Eid Al-Adha
holiday, according to Khaberni News.

The historic
Karak Castle is located in the center of the city, overlooking the villages of
Wadi Karak, where the beauty of nature is located to the southern Jordan Valley
via Al-Kharza Road, and Jabal Shehan and its plains is in the north, while in
the south are the shrines of the Companions in the southern shrine, while to
the east lies the Qatrana Castle, which guards convoys of pilgrims.
The Director
of Karak Tourism Department, Sati’ Al-Masa’idah, said Karak
is rich in the summer and winter tourist sites, constituting an important destination
for visitors, especially on holidays, pointing out that these sites extend
along the royal road from Wadi Mujib (Arnoun) in the north to Seil Al Hassa in
the south.
He added that
the archaeological sites of successive human civilizations are spread over the
region, starting from the Qasr district in the north, the ruins of the
Nabataean temples of
Qasr Rabbah, the Karak Castle, the shrines of the Companions in the southern
shrine, and the ruins of the town of That Ras in the south and the Jordan
Valley in the west, all of which constitute a civilized record of successive
human races in the region since different ages.
He pointed
out that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities views the city of Karak as of
special importance, and that it will work with other parties to upgrade and
develop tourist sites and maintain its services to provide an attractive
tourist environment.
