On Friday, the public prosecutor ordered the detention of a woman accused of insulting Flag Day, placing her in a women’s reform and rehabilitation center.
She was charged with a misdemeanor of verbally insulting the Jordanian flag, as well as using the internet, information technology, information systems, or a website to publish content that could incite discord or strife or undermine societal peace.
Earlier, the media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated that the Cybercrime Unit had been investigating a widely circulated video in which the woman insulted Flag Day. Her identity was identified, and a notice was issued to locate her.
The spokesperson added that, on the same morning, and following the notice, the woman reported herself to the Cybercrime Unit, where she was questioned before being referred to the public prosecutor.
