AMMAN — The torture index report from 2020-2021 stated that the total number of complaints of torture amounted to 135, according to Alghad news.

The report, which was prepared by the Adalah Center for Human Rights Studies highlighted the problems which led to the complaints, including torturing detainees in the initial detention centers.

The report also stated that 79.25 percent of the legal protection measures to prevent torture were not implemented.

The report also indicated that the detainees’ conditions during the lockdown which was imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic affected the way they were treated.

The complaints in this regard also included inspections which harm the human dignity, in addition to providing the detainees with bad-quality food, lack of sanitation in the centers’ facilities, detaining juveniles with adults, and the lack of COVID-19 PCR tests.
