The Jordan Free and Development Zones Group has carried out a wide campaign to remove informal structures scattered along the main roads in the Dead Sea area. These structures had created significant visual pollution and enabled unregulated activities that negatively affected tourism and the image of the area for visitors.

The campaign was implemented in full coordination with the relevant authorities, as part of an integrated plan to improve the overall environment and enhance the visitor experience. It also reflects the Dead Sea’s unique tourism value as one of the world’s most significant natural sites.
The Group noted that it has provided an alternative, organized location for kiosk owners and small vendors. The new designated area is situated along a prepared beach near key facilities and services, and it will be managed by the Sweimeh Municipality. The aim is to enable these small businesses to continue operating legally and safely, improve the quality of services offered to visitors, and ensure a more orderly and secure environment.
The Group emphasized that this step aligns with its vision to balance the development of the tourist area with protecting local livelihoods, ensuring a sustainable and responsible environment that reflects the Dead Sea’s civilized image and contributes to promoting economic and social development in the region.
