Armed robbery suspect apprehended in breakthrough investigation

AMMAN — In a significant breakthrough, the employees of the Criminal Investigation Department, under the General Security Directorate, successfully identified and apprehended the individual responsible for an armed robbery that occurred several days ago in a currency exchange store located in the Al-Bayader area, south of the capital.اضافة اعلان

According to the spokesperson for the General Security Directorate, the incident unfolded when an unknown masked assailant entered the currency exchange store in Al-Bayader and forcefully seized a sum of JD2,000 at gunpoint before swiftly fleeing the scene, Addustour reported.

The Criminal Investigation Department promptly received a report regarding the incident and launched a comprehensive investigation.

The spokesperson highlighted that upon receiving the report, law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the location of the crime, meticulously gathering crucial details and evidence from the scene. Additionally, a specialized investigation team from the Criminal Investigation Department was assigned to meticulously follow up on the case, employing various investigative techniques.

After days of diligent efforts, relentless follow-up, and comprehensive information gathering, the investigation team successfully identified the perpetrator responsible for the armed robbery. Subsequently, law enforcement officers located the suspect, conducted a raid at his place of residence, and successfully apprehended him.

During the subsequent interrogation, the suspect confessed to meticulously planning and executing the crime, employing a plastic pistol as a weapon. The investigation into the case is still ongoing, as authorities seek to uncover any potential accomplices or further evidence that may shed light on the incident.

It is important to note that armed robbery falls within the jurisdiction of the State Security Court. If convicted, the perpetrator may face a penalty of up to 15 years of imprisonment, underscoring the seriousness of the offense.

As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with additional information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing efforts to ensure a thorough and comprehensive investigation.
