AMMAN — Delegations from the Yemeni government and the
Houthi group commenced consultations in Amman on Friday, under the auspices of
the UN to address the issue of prisoners and detainees.
The consultations, sponsored by the UN primarily focused on
revealing the fate of all prisoners and detainees held by both sides in aims to
sook solutions of a previous agreement, the Chinese News Agency, Xinhua
reported.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the government negotiating delegation expressed optimism for the success of the talks in a tweet,
emphasizing the objective of securing “the release of all prisoners and
abductees” on the basis of reciprocity.
In April, the two sides exchanged about 880 prisoners.
However, the second round of prisoner swap talks was postponed after they traded
accusation overs delays of visiting prisoners.
