Amman – Secretary General of the Jordan Valley Authority, Engineer Hisham Al-Hayseh, conducted a field tour covering the South Shouneh and North Shouneh areas to follow up on water supply projects and assess the agricultural sector as part of the Authority’s efforts to enhance water resource management and support sustainable agricultural development.

Al-Hayseh began his tour by inspecting vital water pumping stations in South Shouneh, where he reviewed operational mechanisms and was briefed on the key challenges facing the continuity of irrigation services. He also visited the South Shouneh Directorate and several model farms, emphasizing the importance of close collaboration between technical staff and farmers to ensure optimal water usage.
He affirmed the Authority’s support for agricultural projects, particularly those with high economic value, and highlighted the need for continuous technical oversight. He stressed the importance of upgrading pumping station infrastructure and enhancing its efficiency.
Al-Hayseh also visited the Directorate of Laboratories and Soil, where he reviewed findings from studies on water and soil quality. He noted that these studies serve as essential references for decision-making and agricultural development planning in the Jordan Valley.
In North Shouneh, Al-Hayseh held a meeting with operations and control managers to discuss water supply plans for the summer season and the challenges involved. He stressed the need for coordination to ensure fair distribution among farmers.
The tour concluded with a visit to citrus farms and a meeting with a number of farmers, during which Al-Hayseh reaffirmed the Jordan Valley Authority’s commitment to improving irrigation services and supporting farmers as part of a comprehensive vision for resource sustainability and enhanced agricultural productivity in the Jordan Valley.
