Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour, Minister of Health and Chair of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), announced a price reduction for 97 medicines by 5% to 72%, as part of ongoing government efforts and under the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan to ease the economic burden on citizens and improve access to treatment.

Dr. Al-Badour noted that the list of discounted medicines includes essential drugs widely used in treating various diseases. He emphasized that this measure aligns with the Ministry of Health and JFDA policy to regulate medicine prices, improve availability, ensure affordability, and support national pharmaceutical security. He added that prices will continue to be reviewed periodically in line with global market developments to protect the interests of Jordanian citizens.
Dr. Rana Obeidat, Director General of the JFDA, detailed the breakdown of price reductions:
14 antibiotics
8 dermatological drugs
8 respiratory system drugs
8 neurological drugs
2 gastrointestinal drugs
2 fertility/reproductive system drugs
25 drugs for cancer and immune system diseases
1 ophthalmic drug
2 endocrine drugs
5 analgesics/antipyretics
8 hematology drugs
14 cardiovascular drugs
She added that the JFDA will continue to act as a safeguard for the health of Jordanians through ongoing monitoring of drug prices and safety.
