The financial contribution amounts to $3.5 million (2.85 million Swiss francs).

Eileen Hofstetter, Head of International Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in Jordan, affirmed her country’s “long-standing” partnership with UNICEF and its commitment to supporting the government in strengthening child rights and improving access to essential services.

According to UNICEF’s statement on Sunday, the new funding will focus on strengthening national systems that provide sustainable, climate-resilient water and sanitation services both in host communities and refugee camps.

UNICEF Deputy Representative in Jordan, Cheroz Mogi, stated:
“Switzerland is a key partner in our efforts to ensure that every child in Jordan grows up in a safe and healthy environment… This renewed cooperation will help us enhance water and sanitation systems and improve the lives of the most vulnerable children and families in camps and host communities.”

Hofstetter added that Switzerland remains committed to supporting Jordan in addressing the needs of Syrian refugees in camps, while also bolstering development efforts in host communities.
“Through a set of initiatives in water and sanitation, education, protection, and livelihood opportunities, we continue to stand by Jordan in strengthening dignity, resilience, and sustainable opportunities for all,” she said.

The statement concluded that, at a time when Jordan faces growing pressure on its resources, this contribution reinforces the shared commitment between Switzerland and UNICEF to support the country’s priorities in water and sanitation services. The renewed partnership builds on years of fruitful cooperation to strengthen national systems and advance progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
