The agreements fall within the Economic Modernization Vision and the Water Strategic Plan 2023–2040, as part of ongoing government efforts to enhance services provided to citizens. The total value of the projects is approximately $27.7 million, funded by the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in addition to self-financing from the Water Authority.

Minister Abu-Saud emphasized that the government, through the Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority, continues to accelerate the implementation of vital projects to improve sewerage services across regions.

Phase II: Valued at $18.47 million and funded by the EBRD and EU MADA Fund, this phase targets Kafr Asad and Qum areas in Irbid Governorate. It includes the construction of sewer lines with diameters ranging from 300 to 600 mm over 45 km, and 10 km of household connections, serving approximately 31,800 residents.

Phase III: Funded by the Water Authority’s own resources at $9.23 million, this phase covers parts of Marj Al-Hamam and Na’ur District in southwestern Amman. It involves extending sewer lines up to 32 km, installing 5 km of household connections, and rehabilitating 2 km of Wadi Al-Seer main line, benefiting around 13,900 residents.

Abu-Saud highlighted that these projects represent a significant advancement in Jordan’s sewerage services, delivering tangible environmental and service improvements, in line with sustainable development goals and the national water vision.
