Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Monday announced a unilateral three-month humanitarian ceasefire, one day after Sudanese Army Commander Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan rejected an international proposal for a truce submitted by the Quartet, the details of which have not been disclosed.

In a recorded statement, RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo said, “Out of our national responsibility and in response to ongoing international efforts, led by the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump and the endeavors of the Quartet, we declare a humanitarian truce that includes halting hostilities for a period of three months,” while also agreeing to the establishment of an international monitoring mechanism.
Over the past two years, both warring sides have violated every declared ceasefire, resulting in repeated failures of negotiation efforts.
