Ahmed Al-Mousawi, a member of the Iraq Football Association, told Iraq's Shafaq News agency on Sunday that the association has officially contacted the national teams of Iran, Uzbekistan, and Jordan, alongside several other Asian teams, aiming to secure strong participation in the tournament scheduled to be held in Iraq.

Al-Mousawi explained that Iraq and Iran will officially participate in the tournament according to current arrangements, while discussions continue with Uzbekistan and a fourth Asian team to finalize the participant list, with Jordan remaining among the proposed options.

He added that the tournament represents an important opportunity for the Iraqi national team to test its readiness against strong Asian teams within its preparation program for upcoming commitments, chief among them the 2027 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia.

All four national teams expected to compete in the four-nation tournament participated in the 2026 World Cup finals held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
