The industrial production quantity index in Palestine rose by 1.21% in August 2026 compared with July, reaching 84.68, up from 83.67, based on the 2019 base year.

According to a statement issued Sunday by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply activities recorded a 14.12% increase, accounting for 7.38% of the total weight of industrial activities.
The statistics bureau noted that 11% of industrial facilities in the Gaza Strip resumed operations in August 2026, out of 114 facilities included in the sample used to calculate the industrial production index in the Strip.
Water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities also recorded a 6.24% increase, accounting for 1.84% of total industrial activity.
Meanwhile, manufacturing activities declined by 0.60% in August compared with the previous month. Manufacturing accounts for 87.89% of the overall industrial production index.
Among the manufacturing subsectors with a significant relative impact on the overall index, several recorded declines in August compared with July. These included the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment, tobacco products, textiles, and chemicals and chemical products.
On the other hand, several manufacturing activities recorded increases, most notably the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, wearing apparel, furniture, printing and reproduction of recorded media, food products, wood and wood products, and paper and paper products.
Mining and quarrying activities recorded a 0.43% decline, accounting for 2.89% of the overall industrial activity index.
