Amman — A 1-1 draw imposed itself on the national football team's match against its Syrian counterpart, in the international friendly held Sunday evening at King Abdullah II Stadium in Al-Quwaismeh, as part of both sides' preparations for the Asian Cup finals (Saudi Arabia 2027).

The national team went ahead in the 38th minute through Ali Alwan, before Jean Mostafa equalized for Syria's national team in the 52nd minute.
Moroccan national team coach Badou Zaki failed to secure a win in his first match as head coach, following in the footsteps of his compatriots Hussein Ammouta, who lost his first match 6-0 to Norway, and Jamal Sellami, who drew goalless with North Korea in his first outing with the national team.
The national team plays its second friendly on October 7, hosting Venezuela's national team at the same stadium at 8:00 PM.
National team head coach Badou Zaki relied, in his starting lineup, on Alex Samir, Ihsan Haddad, Hadi Al-Hourani, Yazan Al-Arab, Muhannad Abu Taha, Mahmoud Shawkat, Noor Al-Din Al-Rawabdeh, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Musa Al-Taamari, Ali Alwan, and Odai Fakhouri.
On the other side, Syria's Spanish coach José Lana started the match with a lineup including Elias Hadaya, Abdullah Al-Shami, Ayham Ousou, Ahmad Faqa, Zakaria Hannan, Elmar Ibrahim, Mohammad Othman, Khaled Kurdoghli, Jean Mostafa, Mahmoud Al-Aswad, and Noah Shamoun.
Danger was absent from both goals in the opening minutes, with the most dangerous attempt coming in the 19th minute, after a mistaken clearance by Al-Arab, with Syrian striker Noah Shamoun striking the ball first-time with his left foot, though it passed by Samir's goal.
National team goalkeeper Alex Samir nearly cost his team a goal in the 23rd minute, after coming out of his area and jumping to head the ball, which passed over him and headed toward the goal, before he caught up with it before it crossed the line and cleared it to safety.
Syria's advantage continued as time passed, with Shamoun squandering a good chance to score in the 27th minute, after slipping between the national team's defenders and striking a powerful shot that went over the goal, before Al-Taamari responded with a shot from inside the box that Hadaya brilliantly kept out in the 35th minute.
The national team managed to score the opening goal in the 38th minute, after Odai Fakhouri gave the ball to teammate Ali Alwan outside the box, with the latter striking a powerful grounded left-footed shot that settled into the left side of Syria's goal, ending the first half with the "Nashama" ahead by a single goal.
Neither coach made changes to the starting lineup at the start of the second half, with Syria's national team managing to equalize in the 52nd minute, after Shamoun set up teammate Jean Mostafa one-on-one with the goal, with the latter advancing and striking the ball into the net amid an absence of necessary defensive marking.
After that, José Lana made several substitutions that helped increase Syria's attacking strength, with the entry of Mohammad Al-Hallaq and Omar Al-Somah posing a threat to Samir's goal, before Al-Taamari responded with a well-taken shot from outside the box that passed by the goal in the 64th minute.
