The team enters the tournament with ambitions of competing strongly and achieving a historic milestone by winning Jordanian men’s volleyball’s first medal at the championship.

The national team returned from the Egyptian camp with several important technical and tactical gains after playing four matches against clubs competing at advanced levels in the Egyptian league. The experience aimed to raise the team’s readiness, improve cohesion and assess the players’ capabilities ahead of the Arab competition.

Jordan opened the camp with a 3–1 win over Heliopolis, who finished seventh in the Egyptian league, before drawing 2–2 with league runners-up Zamalek. The team then drew 2–2 with fourth-placed Tala’ea El Gaish before concluding its matches with a 3–1 loss to Al Mokawloon.

Despite the mixed results, the coaching staff came away with a positive assessment of the camp, given the strength of the opponents and the variety of playing styles the team faced. The matches also provided the players with valuable competitive experience and helped raise the pace of their performances, particularly as the current squad includes several young players seeking to establish themselves on the Arab stage.

Hassan Al-Hasri, head coach of the national teams, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the Egyptian camp, noting that the team gained significant technical and tactical benefits from the matches.

Al-Hasri said facing strong teams in the Egyptian league gave the coaching staff a clearer assessment of the players’ readiness and their ability to handle match pressure. He added that the team showed improvement in carrying out its duties and responsibilities, along with clear progress on the mental side.

He said the team includes a group of young players who represent the future of Jordanian volleyball, adding that competing against high-level teams would help build their experience and give them the confidence needed ahead of upcoming commitments.

Al-Hasri noted that the Arab Championship will be highly competitive given the quality of the participating teams. He said the national team understands the scale of the challenge and aims to build on its experience at last year’s Arab Challenge Cup, hosted by Jordan, where it finished fourth after a dramatic 3–2 defeat to Asian champions Bahrain despite taking a 2–0 lead.

Fifteen players were selected for the Egypt camp, with the squad set to be reduced to 14 in accordance with tournament regulations. The squad, coached by Egypt’s Al-Hasri and assisted by national coach Walid Al-Asoud, includes Yasser Jahed, Moataz Al-Naqeeb, Zaid Al-Shafie, Mahmoud Al-Naqeeb, Muhannad Jarwan, Ayham Al-Naqeeb, Ahmad Al-Atla, Ibrahim Al-Atla, Rashed Al-Alwan, Mohammad Jamal, Mahmoud Abdulaziz, Abdulazim Idghesh, Abdullah Saifan, Ayham Khanfar and Loay Najeh.

On the organizational side, Volleyball Federation Secretary-General Dr. Ismail Al-Sarhanah said participating delegations will begin arriving in Amman on October 4, with accreditation procedures and the technical meeting scheduled for the following day. The tournament will officially begin on October 6.

Al-Sarhanah said Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria had withdrawn, adding that the final list of participating teams was expected to be finalized in coordination with the Arab Volleyball Federation on Wednesday evening.

He said Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman, along with Jordan, had confirmed their participation, while further contacts were underway to finalize the list of participants.

The tournament will be held at the Arena Hall in Al Hussein Youth City, while participating teams will hold their training sessions at the Sports Palace. Al-Sarhanah said the federation had completed the necessary administrative and technical arrangements to welcome the delegations and ensure the success of the event.

He praised the efforts of federation board member Mohammad Abu Ghraibeh, who is overseeing the tournament, along with the working committees, stressing that preparations were continuing to complete all hosting arrangements and achieve the desired success, which he said has become a hallmark of tournaments organized by the Volleyball Federation.

Meanwhile, information from the Volleyball Federation indicates that it intends to renew the contract of national teams head coach Hassan Al-Hasri, citing his experience and clear impact on improving the overall level of the teams, particularly the age-group sides. The federation also credited him with developing a young men’s national team that has attracted attention with its performances and results in Arab competitions since he took charge in October 2024.
