The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) urged eligible taxpayers with outstanding claims to take initiative and submit their settlement requests electronically via the department’s official website to benefit from facilities and exemptions based on the criteria approved by the Cabinet.
Key Details of the Decision:
Scope: The settlement covers income and sales tax claims regardless of the amount.
Exclusions: Cases with a final court ruling regarding the crime of tax evasion are excluded.
Application Process: Requests for settlement or installments are submitted electronically through a dedicated form on the ISTD website.
Fees: There are no fees or charges for submitting an application, whether filed by the taxpayer or their legal representative.
Objectives of the Initiative:
Financial Clearance: Enabling taxpayers to settle accumulated obligations from previous years and clear their tax status.
Economic Stimulus: Stimulating and ensuring the sustainability of economic activities by easing financial burdens.
Fairness: Achieving justice among taxpayers and expanding the base of those benefiting from settlements.
Dispute Resolution: Allowing parties to finalize outstanding claims and strengthen their financial positions.
The Department noted that the decision also permits settlements for tax files that have received final judicial rulings, provided they do not involve tax evasion crimes.
