National exports were concentrated in the sectors of clothing, fertilizers, pharmaceutical preparations, phosphate, and potash.

The trade deficit declined by 4.8%, and total exports covered 57.0% of imports.

The Department of Statistics issued its monthly foreign trade report, indicating that the value of national exports during the first two months of 2026 increased by 3.0% to reach 1.350 billion Jordanian dinars, while the value of re-exports decreased by 12.6% to reach 361 million dinars.

Accordingly, the total value of exports reached 1.711 billion dinars, recording a slight decline of 0.8% compared to the same period in 2025.

Imports also decreased by 2.5%, reaching 3.005 billion dinars during the first two months of 2026. As a result, the trade balance deficit reached 1.294 billion dinars, decreasing by 65 million dinars, or 4.8%, compared to the same period in 2025.

The coverage ratio of total exports to imports reached 57.0% during the first two months of 2026, compared to 56.0% during the same period of 2025, marking an increase of one percentage point.

Regarding the monthly performance for February 2026, the total value of exports during the month reached 811 million dinars, including 643 million dinars in national exports and 168 million dinars in re-exports, while imports reached 1.502 billion dinars, resulting in a trade deficit of 691 million dinars during February 2026.

Compared to the same month in 2025, total exports declined by 6.8%, national exports by 4.9%, and re-exports by 13.4%, while imports increased by 6.0%, leading to a 26.3% rise in the trade deficit.

In terms of the commodity composition of foreign trade during the first two months of 2026, the increase in national exports was concentrated in raw potash by 46.5%, garments and accessories by 6.4%, nitrogen or chemical fertilizers by 0.8%, pharmaceutical preparations by 17.6%, and raw phosphate by 16.2%.

As for imports, the value of precious jewelry increased by 37.6%, electrical machinery and equipment by 0.7%, and plastics by 9.2%, while imports of crude oil and its derivatives declined by 8.8%, machinery tools by 7.0%, and vehicles and bicycles by 38.4%.

The rise in national exports was driven by increased exports to non-Arab Asian countries, including China, and to countries of the European Union, including the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, the أبرز international markets from which imports increased were countries of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and China among the non-Arab Asian countries.
