The Ayla golf course consists of two main sections:
The inner section, which includes the primary playing areas such as the tee, fairway, green, rough, approach, bunker, and water hazards.
The outer section, which includes pathways, landscaping, trees, and surrounding facilities.
Both sections require meticulous care and continuous maintenance to preserve the aesthetic appeal of the course and maintain the highest standards of quality.
Daily maintenance activities include mowing the grass across different areas, rolling the greens to increase ball speed, grooming and maintaining bunkers, repairing divots, and regular irrigation with inspection of the irrigation system. The work also involves weeding, fertilizing, pest control, and cleaning facilities, in addition to special care for trees and plants through pruning, trimming, fertilizing, and regular watering.
Beyond daily tasks, the team performs seasonal specialized work such as verticutting, aerification, top dressing, and planting and development activities, ensuring the course continuously offers a professional and fully integrated playing experience. Maintenance also extends to surrounding facilities to preserve a comfortable and attractive environment throughout the year.
In addition to its athletic and tourism role, Ayla’s golf course has significantly contributed to the economic and social landscape of Aqaba by creating unprecedented job opportunities in the Jordanian labor market. Through its operational, technical, and logistical requirements, the course has introduced new professional specialties and non-traditional roles, demonstrating the project's pioneering role in diversifying the labor market and enriching it with new skills and experiences.
The team consists of over 46 employees from various specialties based in Aqaba. Engineers and technicians operate and maintain systems, while supervisors and gardeners care for green spaces and environmental quality. Laborers handle daily operational needs. Golf equipment and vehicle specialists ensure readiness, supported by mechanics specialized in maintaining the unique machinery used in the sport.
This diversity of expertise reflects the significant transformation the Ayla golf course has brought to the labor market by introducing new professional paths related to golf, helping develop specialized local talent, and opening promising career prospects for Jordanian youth.
Project leaders at Ayla emphasize that these efforts embody the company’s national commitment to supporting sustainable development in Aqaba, by boosting sports tourism and creating real job opportunities that serve the local community while equipping it with skills that meet international standards.
Thanks to these ongoing efforts, Ayla continues to cement its status as a world-class sports destination that welcomes golf enthusiasts and provides them with an internationally certified course and an exceptional, fully integrated experience from arrival to the end of their round.
