EU: This Week Could Be Pivotal for Ukraine
The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, said on Monday that the current week could prove decisive for diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, following talks between officials from Kyiv and Washington in the United States, and the arrival of a U.S. envoy in Moscow.اضافة اعلان

Speaking at a meeting of EU defense ministers, Kallas noted:
"This could be a pivotal week for diplomacy. We heard yesterday that the discussions in the United States were difficult but productive. We have no idea about the outcomes yet, but I will be speaking today with the Ukrainian defense minister as well as the Ukrainian foreign minister."

Washington recently presented Ukraine with a proposal outlining conditions to end the conflict with Russia. The plan reportedly includes Kyiv giving up additional territory, reducing the size of its army, and accepting restrictions on joining NATO. In response, three major European countries—Britain, France, and Germany—drafted a counterproposal to the U.S. 28-point peace plan, differing particularly on recognizing Russian control over Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, Russia has announced continued advances in recent weeks along Ukraine’s southeastern front, claiming control over several new areas. Western reports indicate that Moscow now controls approximately 161,000 square kilometers—around 27% of Ukraine’s territory.
