U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Saturday that Iran informed the United States it will not levy transit fees on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, noting that Washington will wait to see what actually happens on the ground.

In remarks to Fox News, Vance added that Iran also informed the United States it would allow the maximum flow of oil through the strait, emphasizing that Washington does not trust this commitment until it is proven on the ground.
He explained that the United States is working on a plan for safe vessel passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which includes a commitment from Iran not to open fire, noting that the Iranians are suffering and want to end the current situation.
Vance stated that the United States is "in the middle of the game," utilizing diplomatic, economic, and military tools to achieve the best outcome for the American people.
He pointed out that the main issue in the Strait of Hormuz is Iran's planting of sea mines at the beginning of the war, adding that the United States is working to establish a safe navigation system in the strait.
For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Saturday that current circumstances could present an opportunity to continue toward reaching an agreement and settling outstanding issues through talks, considering the present moment most suitable for an agreement in light of what he described as "cohesion, strength, and unity" within the country.
Pezeshkian added that Iran seeks to avoid intensifying pressure on its people amidst difficulties in various fields, emphasizing that Tehran wants the other side to recognize and guarantee its rights, stressing that it asks for nothing beyond the rights of the country and the Iranian people.
Meanwhile, the Sultanate of Oman confirmed Saturday that ongoing negotiations regarding navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz are proceeding in a positive and constructive atmosphere.
In a press statement, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of avoiding any actions that could impact these negotiations and the progress achieved, which takes into account the interests of all parties.
