The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported early Thursday that the Missile Administration conducted the test on November 4 to verify the technical specifications of the new defense system.
The agency said the test confirmed the reliability of the materials used in manufacturing the missile, as well as the effectiveness of its intelligent multi-target guidance system.
It added that the test demonstrated the air defense system's ability to detect and track targets, along with the efficiency of its detection information-processing unit, enhancing its technical capabilities in responding to aerial threats.
Separately, a sub-unit of the country's long-range strategic cruise missile forces conducted a live-fire training exercise in eastern North Korea. No further details were provided regarding the targets or the outcome of the drill.
KCNA described the missile test and military exercise as part of ongoing activities by the national defense sector and armed forces to develop combat systems, improve their technological capabilities and enhance the reliability of strategic weapons.
