WASHINGTON
— NBC reported that a group of 40 Fall 2023 White House and Executive Office of
the President interns signed a letter urging President Joe Biden and Vice
President Kamala Harris to address a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

The
interns accused the president of ignoring the pleas of the American people
regarding the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. The letter stated “We
will no longer remain silent on the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian
people," the interns wrote.
The
interns stated, "We are not the decision-makers of today, but we aspire to
be the leaders of tomorrow, and we will never forget how the pleas of the
American people have been heard and thus far, ignored."
Since
the start of Israel's war on Gaza on October 7, Biden has ignored widespread
demonstrations calling for an end to unconditional US support for Israel and an
immediate ceasefire. The US has thwarted attempts for a ceasefire in the UN
Security Council.
