The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned on Thursday that Gaza’s hospitals, already under severe pressure, are now “on the brink of collapse” due to the expansion of the Israeli ground offensive in the northern Gaza Strip, calling for an end to these inhumane conditions.

According to the organization’s official website, Tedros said in a post on X that “the military incursion and evacuation orders in northern Gaza are causing new waves of displacement, pushing families already suffering from psychological trauma into increasingly shrinking areas unfit for human dignity.” He cautioned that hospitals, already under significant strain, are on the verge of collapse as escalating violence hinders access and prevents WHO from delivering vital equipment.
