UN Adopts Resolution Calling on Israel to Withdraw from the Golan
The United Nations General Assembly early Wednesday adopted a resolution declaring Israel’s continued occupation and annexation of the Syrian Golan Heights as illegal, and called for its withdrawal to the June 4, 1967 line.اضافة اعلان

The resolution, submitted by Egypt, was approved by 123 countries, opposed by Israel and six other states, while 41 countries abstained.

It states that Israel’s December 14, 1981 decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction, and administration over the occupied Golan is null and void, with no legitimacy whatsoever. The resolution calls on Israel to comply with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and withdraw from the Syrian Golan Heights to the pre-1967 lines.

Syria’s permanent UN representative, Ibrahim Al-Ali, told Syrian state media (SANA) that the General Assembly witnessed a significant event, with 123 countries supporting the resolution for the first time. He added that this vote demonstrates that Syria, despite all challenges, does not relinquish its right to the Golan and has leveraged its diplomatic engagement with the international community to shift the positions of more than 26 countries in favor of the resolution compared to last year.

Al-Ali emphasized that ongoing talks with Israel do not address the fate of the occupied Golan, affirming that it remains Arab Syrian territory and Syria’s position on the issue is firm. He noted that previous discussions between Syria and Israel were monitored by US President Donald Trump, aimed at addressing security concerns for both sides.
