DOHA –
Majed Al-Ansari, spokesman for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on
Tuesday that mediation efforts regarding Israel's bombardment on the Gaza Strip
are ongoing and have not halted since October 7.
During a press conference, Al-Ansari stated that Qatar is
pursuing all available avenues for resolution by speaking with the warring
parties, as well as various regional and international entities, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.
He
emphasized that Qatar will continue its mediation efforts regardless of the
situation on the ground, saying, "We are engaged in serious negotiations
and discussions between [Hamas and the Israeli occupation]." He went on to
argue that escalations damage the mediation process.
The
spokesman stated that continuing the war would
result in more fatalities and injuries and that the two parties must use the
principle of negotiation in order to reach a long-term ceasefire.
As for
the escalations in the Red Sea, he said they “represent a big threat.”
