In a post on social media, the Qassam Brigades said: “Due to the obstinacy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the submission of Chief of Staff Eran Zamir, [here is a] farewell photo at the start of the operation in Gaza.”

The Israeli army announced on Friday the expansion of its ground maneuver in Gaza City, saying it will continue to operate with great and unprecedented force against Hamas, and ordered Gaza City residents to move south only via Al-Rashid Street.

On Thursday evening, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, stated that the Israeli prisoners are dispersed across neighborhoods in Gaza City and that the Qassam will not be careful about their lives as long as Netanyahu has decided to kill them.

The Qassam Brigades said in a military statement: “We tell the enemy’s military and political leadership that Gaza will not be an easy morsel for your cowardly army; we do not fear you and are ready to send the lives of your soldiers to hell.”

The brigades affirmed that they have prepared an army of suicide attackers and thousands of ambushes and improvised explosive devices, stressing that Gaza will be a graveyard for Israeli soldiers.

They added: “You are entering a brutal war of attrition that will cost you additional numbers of dead and captured; we have trained our fighters to place charges inside the compartments of your vehicles, and your bulldozers will be prime targets for our fighters and a cause for increasing the number of prisoners in our hands.”

The brigades insisted that “the start of the criminal operation and its expansion means they will not obtain any prisoners alive or dead, and all their fate will be unknown, like the fate of Ron Arad.”
