The official spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said on Saturday that what he described as the organized violence carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinian villages and towns in Jenin, Nablus, Jerusalem, and Hebron in the occupied West Bank represents a serious criminal escalation that requires immediate international intervention to provide protection for Palestinians before the situation spirals out of control.
In a statement published by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Abu Rudeineh said that the attacks include assaults on Palestinian homes and residents, the burning of agricultural land, the uprooting and destruction of olive trees, vandalism of property, and the seizure of water resources. He alleged that these actions are carried out with the protection and direct support of the Israeli military, which he also accused of continuing its daily military operations in the Gaza Strip.
“We call on the international community, particularly the U.S. administration, to take practical steps that will compel the occupying power to comply with international legitimacy and international law, and to halt its ongoing crimes, whether committed by the Israeli army or by what we describe as terrorist settlers,” Abu Rudeineh said.
He held the Israeli government responsible for what he described as the dangerous deterioration, stressing that the settler attacks are inseparable from what he characterized as the ongoing genocide and forced displacement in Gaza, which he said has continued for 1,000 days. He added that these actions aim to undermine the Palestinian national project and impose a colonial reality on the ground, in what he described as a blatant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
Abu Rudeineh concluded by warning that the region remains at a critical historical crossroads and on the brink of further instability due to continued conflict, chaos, and what he described as Israel’s failure to adhere to Arab and international legitimacy and legal obligations.
