Mohammad Makhamreh, a farmer from the village of Susiya in Masafer Yatta, said that a group of settlers smashed and uprooted olive trees that were around 8 years old.
“I depend entirely on agriculture,” Makhamreh stated. “For years, I’ve faced repeated attacks by settlers, including physical assaults and destruction of my crops.”
He added, “Their goal is to clear the land of trees and leave it barren to facilitate confiscation under the pretext that it is uncultivated.”
Despite these assaults, Makhamreh vowed:
“Whatever happens, we will replant the land and remain on it. We will not give it up to the settlers.”
A day earlier, settlers reportedly uprooted and destroyed around 180 olive and citrus saplings in the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank.
Settler violence continues to escalate across the West Bank, including attacks on Palestinians, their homes and property, and the illegal establishment of settlement outposts.
According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, 15 new outposts were attempted in May 2025, primarily for agricultural and herding purposes.
In the same month, the commission documented 415 settler attacks on Palestinians and their property, ranging from armed assaults to vandalism, land bulldozing, tree uprooting, and forced closures.
