During a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, President Aoun added that Israel's continued destruction of homes and bulldozing of villages in the south constitute a direct violation of human rights and a flagrant breach of international laws and norms, demanding international action to put an end to them.
He further noted that Israel has targeted religious and heritage sites, reflecting clear premeditated intent against both people and infrastructure, particularly since such sites are non-military and harbor no armed presence, according to the National News Agency (NNA).
For his part, Türk confirmed that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is closely monitoring developments in Lebanon—specifically the ongoing Israeli attacks since March 2—to compile a detailed report on human rights violations.
